Celebrate Earth Day the Organic Way

Organic.org is proud to participate in the April 2005 “Go Organic! For Earth Day” celebration, a national recognition of Earth Day’s 35th anniversary this April 22. As a part of the celebration, www.organic.org is helping educate and encourage America’s consumers to try organic foods and personal care products found at their favorite grocery stores.

An increasing amount of research suggests that organic foods are packed with nutrients that everyone needs – from newborn babies to centenarians. For example, a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry finds that organic corn and berries have higher levels of antioxidants than corn and berries grown with conventional methods.

Here are some easy ways to participate in Earth Day:

  1. Look for the “Go Organic! for Earth Day” campaign in supermarkets across the U.S. The campaign makes trying organics easy and convenient by offering samples of organic foods and personal care products, coupons and information about how your food choices make a difference.
  2. Visit www.OrganicEarthDay.org for a list of participating supermarkets, organic food and personal care manufacturers, and more.
  3. Plan an all-organic Earth Day meal and you’ll discover how simple it is to cook with organics. You’ll also discover just how tasty fresh organics are!
  4. Start your own organic garden. It’s easy with certified organic seeds and bedding plants. Check out www.seedsofchange.com for more information.

Remember, each little step that one individual takes contributes to the health of our planet, and ultimately, the health of its inhabitants.
